Every thing you don't really need to know about the Twilight Race Handicap System
Objective - The aim of the Twilight Race Handicap System is to give all boats a chance of winning a race during the course of the season, or at least enable them to be in the front end action towards the end of a race. To facilitate that aim, we are trying for a constant elapsed time for each race. Benchmark boats start at 5:15PM and first boat home at 6:45PM
Times are initially set at the start or the season based on the following known factors
CBH rating for boat
Perceived skill level of skipper and crew.
Time adjustments may be any one or more of the following.
Adjustment for race finishing position. (Graduated adjustment according to fleet size and finish position)
Adjustment for very light breeze. ( for selected heavy displacement boats)
Adjustment for heavy breeze. ( for selected heavy displacement boats)
Realign starting time to 5:15 for benchmark boat.
Corresponding change to the rest of the fleet to maintain relativities if adjustment 4 is used
Reassessment of the accuracy of the original start time as a result of consistent rear of fleet finishes.
